This investigation is conducted in 2019 and 2020 into identify and zoning of effective factors in the irrigation efficiency in Khouzestan province at the Technical and Engineering Research Department of Khuzestan Agriculture and Natural Resources Research Center. In the first step, the required information is obtained by the research project "Evaluation of irrigation efficiency in irrigation networks in Khuzestan province". The rest of the information is obtained by other sources: Jahad Agricultural Organization of Khouzestan, Khuzestan Water and power authority, Governorship of Khouzestan Office, Khuzestan Meteorological Organization, the Jahad Agricultural Organization of the province, Soil and Water Research Institute, Consulting firms. Following that, in consultation with project executive, experts and specialists, affective factors in the irrigation efficiency were identified, classified and prioritized. These factors include rainfall, evapotranspiration, land slope, available water resources, and existence of irrigation and drainage networks, farm management by farmers, farmers' knowledge and awareness of agricultural issues, fertility, water salinity and soil salinity. For each factor, a geographic information layer was formed and then each of the criteria layers was weighted by the method of AHP. Farmer management criteria and farmer knowledge had the highest weights with 0.271 and 0.255, respectively, and evapotranspiration and available water resources had the lowest weights with 0.028 and 0.038, respectively. Then, the final layer, which is the efficiency zoning available in Khuzestan province, was obtained by combining these layers. According to the available data, the maximum efficiency has been observed in Behbahan and Baghmalek regions and the minimum in Indika, Lali, Mahshahr and Masjed Soleiman regions with 41% and 34%, respectively. In addition, the minimum evapotranspiration in Izeh region and its maximum in Bandar Mahshahr have been measured and calculated with 2562 and 3834 mm per year, respectively. Based on the zoning of the factors affecting the efficiency, it is expected that the highest irrigation efficiency is available in Behbahan, Izeh, Gotvand, Dezful and Andimeshk regions. These areas mainly have irrigation and drainage networks, farmers' knowledge and awareness of agricultural issues are high and as a result they apply better agricultural management, better soil fertility and cultivation conditions such as soil and water salinity, fertility, rainfall, etc. are more suitable. In the southern regions of the province, such as Hindijan, Mahshahr, Shadegan, Abadan, Khorramshahr and Hoveyzeh, the conditions are such that the potential efficiency is lower and it is predicted that the lowest irrigation efficiencies of the province are related to these regions.Using the results of this study, it is possible to identify the limitations that reduce irrigation efficiency in each region and try to eliminate or reduce these limitations. Also, the expected irrigation efficiency has been determined according to the factors affecting it in different regions of the province, based on which farms can be managed to achieve optimal efficiency. Keywords: geographical information system - hierarchical analysis process – water productivity MINISTRY OF JEHAD-E-AGRICULTUREAgricultural Research, Education and Extension OrganizationAgricultural Engineering Research Institute Zoning of Khuzestan province based on characteristics affecting irrigation efficiency of some crops and horticultureResearch title:24-46-14-020-980369Research number: Research leader:Azizy, A.Researcher:Absalan, Sh., Varjavand, P., Afzali, S.MJ., Habibi Asl, j., Jahangirzadeh, M., Zaheri AbdehVand, Z., Dibaji, A. and MoradEskandari, M.Coworkers:- Advisers:Khuzestan provinceLocation: 2019Start date:1 yearsDuration:Agricultural Engineering Research InstitutePublisher:-Tiraje: 2021Date of issue:
