Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is one of the major leafy and salad vegetables, in the world and Iran. Iran has a relatively high diversity of lettuce. Evaluation of the genetic potential of lettuce germplasm by classical methods or using morphological characteristics is crucial in breeding programs and introduction of new varieties. Goles of breeding in lettuce, different in countries, But in all programms, Effective Indicators in yield such as: Number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, head length and diameter, yield, leaf color, depth of incisions leaf, texture tenderness, head firmness, maturity and the anthocyanin presence, bolting, fremness, leaf coler, resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. Assessment of Iranian lettuce accessions that were collected from different provinces and some of Iceberg lettuce varieties was conducted in the research greenhouse and laboratory of - Vegetable Research Center (VRC), Karaj. In this study morphological characteristics and quantitative and qualitative traits and yield evaluation in spring of 2020 , in a randomized complete design with three replications of 11 Iceberg lettuce varieties were evaluated using IPGRI descriptors. In this study traits that recorded were include: Number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, head length and diameter, yield, leaf color, depth of incisions leaf, texture tenderness, head firmness, maturity and the anthocyanin presence. Results showed high diversity in the studied traits between the accessions. : Number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, head length and diameter, yield, leaf color, depth of incisions leaf, texture tenderness, head firmness, maturity and the anthocyanin presence. Maximum number of leaves, leaf length and width, Belong to Grizli variety and minimom number of leaves, leaf length and width, Belong to Kartagonova variety. Also the maximum head length and diameter belong to Grizli and Mohagh varieties. These varieties had the highest yield in terms of yield indices.Sahara, Mohagh, Riderplas, Grizli, Honcho, Bajer and Rayder varieties had high head firmness and other varieties had medium or low head firmness. There were variations indices of leaf color, depth of incisions leaf and texture tenderness between varieties. Also Gombola was the earliest variety and Honcho, Bajer and Grizli were the latest varieties. In none of the varieties not found Anthocyanin.The results of this study are useful for Iceberg lettuce classification.
