In Order to determine high yield sesame lines, 18 genotypes including pure lines obtained from segregating populations and two check genotypes (totally 20 genotypes), were evaluated in three regions: Karaj, Moghan and Mashhad. The experiments were carried out in a complete randomized block design with three replications over all the locations. Important agronomic characteristics such as date of flowering, type of branching , number of capsule per axils , number of capsules per plant , plant height, capsule length, stem diameter,1000 seed weight and date of maturity were recorded.
Analysis of variance was carried out for a plenty of characteristics such as: seed yield , number of capsules per plants, plant height, 1000 seed weight, and date of maturity
According to the mean comparisons in each location, lines with the highest seed yield were identified as following:
Karaj: lines number 3 , 1 , 13, 15, and 17 produced seed yield by 1488 , 1471, 1432, 1342 and 1340 kg/ha, respectively. General control (Oltan variety) appeared to produce 1021 kg/ha.
- Moghan: lines number 13 , 1 , 15, 8, and 6 produced seed yield by 1460, 1371, 1293, 1267, and 1147 kg/ha, respectively. The control (Oltan variety) appeared to produce 985 kg/ha.
- Mashahd: lines number 3 , 13, 15, 1, and 18 produced seed yield by 1556, 1507, 1484, 1482 and 1445 kg/ha, respectively. Local control (local variety of Esfarayen) showed 947 kg/ha and general control (Oltan variety) appeared to produce 1249 kg/ha.
- The lines with highest seed yield was selected from superior genotypes in all locations.
