Basically, commercial greenhouses are being built for mass and economical production of ornamentals, vegetables, and fruits. In order to provide suitable environmental conditions in greenhouses, choosing correct place, type of structure, cover and equipment which used in them, as well as the management and operation of greenhouses are essential. The first step in building a greenhouse is choosing the correct place for it. Projected plans for quantitative and qualitative increasing of the product, coupled with lower costs, are subject to the correct place choosing in construction of the greenhouse. In recent years, the site selection has been sued for many different activities in agriculture and horticulture. In Iran there are many studies regarding the location of areas susceptible to olive cultivation, the study of landslide lands and the use of such lands for agriculture and gardening, the study of agricultural water resources, research on the status of forests, rural development, land consolidation and etc have been carried out. Obviously, such studies have had significant results in reducing the cost of point studies and error for sit selection, increasing in speed of projects implementation and correct, sustainable and long-term targeting. Generally Kordestan has many fertile areas which had water scicity. In this study, climate suitability, quality and quantity of water resources, infrastructure status, distance from major markets, soil quality status, topography status and available shading and natural windbreaks, natural drainage situation, risk of flood and rain water collection and environmental conditions in case of implementation of greenhouse projects in four areas of irrigation and drainage sub networks in Kordestan province were investigated. In the analyses of effective parameters in order to locate the susceptible areas in the lands which covered by the irrigation and drainage sub-networks of this province, a cross-sectional table was created between the areas and all the effective parameters. Then, based on the Leikerdi spectrum, five levels of scoring was performed for each parameter in each area. Thus, for excellent, good, suitable, weak, and unacceptable status 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 scores dedicated, respectively. It should be noted that in this table, the highest weight was given in terms of climate suitability, topography and socio-economic studies and the existence of the market for these regions. In evaluation of the factors influencing the site selection in areas from sub-networks of Ilam province rivers, it was determined that three areas including; 1- Mehran developmental area, 2- Kangir ІІ developmental area and 3- Meime ІІІ developmental area are priority, respectively. In this prioritize, the factors of climate suitability, topography and product market and marketing were allocated to weights of 2, 3 and 1.5, respectively. The other effective factors have had the weight 1. Thus, the scores obtained in these three regions were 42.4, 40.9 and 40.6, respectively. Keywords: Climate suitability, Greenhouse, Greenhouse site selection, Border rivers, Ilam province.
