Improved varieties play an important role in increment of production. This study was conducted for selection of bread wheat lines with high yield, appropriate traits and wide adaptation using 156 genotypes in a systematic design at 7 agricultural experimental stations in cold regions under normal irrigation (Karadj, Hamedan, Ardebil, Jolge rokh and Miandoab) and under post-anthesis drought stress conditions (Ardebil,Mashhad and Arak) in 2019/20 cropping season. Comparison of the genotypes and their adaptability were carried out using non-parametric statistic method of ranking. The range of grain yield of the genotypes (131 genotypes) under irrigated condition was between 5277 and 8702 kg ha-1, and their average was 7303 kg ha-1. Under drought stress condition, range of grain yield of the genotypes (131 genotypes) was between 2761 and 6011 kg ha-1, and their average was 4848 kg ha-1. Based on results under normal irrigation and post-anthesis drought stress conditions, 36 genotypes which were better than or were at level of the check cultivars, were selected as the superior genotypes for further evaluation advanced yield trial (ARWYT-C99 &CD99) in 2020/21 cropping season. Key words: Ranking method, grain yield, preliminary yield trial, stripe rust, adaptability.
